Do you consider yourself a senior? Are you are looking to start a low impact exercise program?

Tai Chi also known as moving meditation is a mindful form of exercise perfect for seniors of all ages.Tai Chi for Seniors Chinatown NYC

The tagline for Tai Chi Daily is one of my favorite quotes from an old Bruce Lee interview "Flowing water never goes stale, so keep on flowing." I really believe this to be a fantastic statement vital for not only seniors but people of all ages. I also feel that it is just as important to keep moving as it is to eat healthily and get adequate rest.

Some of the major health benefits that may result from regular Tai Chi practice as a senior include inner peace, better balance, increased circulation, massaging of the internal organs, increased oxygen, stronger bones, improved hand/eye coordination, socialization (fun with others), better sleep, and so much more. Tai Chi for seniors is an excellent way to improve your mental and physical well being by keeping active.

If you want to begin practicing Tai Chi as a senior, first familiarize yourself with Tai Chi by searching and viewing YouTube for "Tai Chi" and "Tai Chi for seniors" videos. If you can, go to your local library and read books on Tai Chi. There are different styles of Tai Chi Chuan such as Chen, Wu, Sun and Hao. Once you are familiar with the Tai Chi form and style you are interested in, consult with your doctor to find out if Tai Chi would be a good fit for you. Your doctor may want to know a little about the Tai Chi form you want to try and it would be good for you to have some information to share with him/her. It is always a good thing to educate yourself with information about a topic that interests you.

Next look for a Tai Chi school near you by searching online, contact senior groups, check your local library for Tai Chi adult ed courses available. Most Tai Chi schools offer a free Tai Chi class before you are required to sign up. This is a good way to see if the school is the right fit for you.

If you do not have the ability to drive or have someone drive you to a local Tai Chi class there are several Tai Chi for senior videos available on Amazon.com.

Although it is not my first choice for you to learn Tai Chi from a book or video it may be what feels right and is best for your current situation.
